Our Commitment to Women’s Football
As the
only Club on the South Island with a complete Girls and Womens Development Pathway from First Kicks to First team - Cashmere Technical is pioneering the way for women in football in New Zealand.
At Cashmere Technical FC, we’re committed to championing the growth and development of girls’ and women’s football. As the largest sports club in the South Island, we believe it’s our responsibility to foster equal opportunities, create safe and welcoming environments, and provide pathways for every player to thrive. From grassroots programs to elite teams, our focus is on building a strong and supportive community for girls and women at all levels of the game.
Equal Opportunity: We invest in girls and women by providing access to quality coaching, facilities, and programs tailored to their development. Cashmere Technical has a team for female players aged 4 to 35+ of any ability.
Removing Barriers: By offering players the option to choose mixed-teams or girls-only teams, we provide players with the autonomy to choose the environement that they feel comfortable in and therefore can thrive
Community Support: Our players are supported by coaches and managers who are qualified, empathetic, and dedicated to helping them become confident footballers.
Pathway to Excellence: From beginner programs to competitive academy teams, we nurture players at every stage of their journey.
Our Director of Football Garbhan Coughlan and Community Football Development Officer Kailey Short both have extensive knowledge of all areas of Women's and Girls football and both oversee this vital area of the club.

senior social football
We’re currently exploring the possibility of continuing a CTFC Women’s social team in the Mainland Football – SIMG Women’s Division One league for the 2026 season. We are holding open training sessions in February to gauge interest in fielding this team. Please see further details below:
CTFC fielded a team in this competition last season and completed a full, competitive season. Building on this, we see a strong opportunity to create a social–competitive women’s side that fits well within both the club and league environment. The team would be aimed at players roughly aged 18-35 (flexible).
All playing backgrounds and fitness levels are welcome! Whether you’ve played recently or are returning after a break - this team is about enjoying football in a relaxed, supportive, and social environment, while still committing to regular training and Sunday matches.
If you are interested in participating in the team, or just want to come down to check out training, we would like to invite you to our open sessions held at the home of CTFC, Garrick Park:
- Tuesday 10 March: 6:30pm -8pm
- Thursday 12 March: 6:30pm - 8pm
These sessions are open to anyone interested and will help determine whether we can confidently enter a team for the season. Please register your interest to attend via the form below.
If you’re interested or would like more information, feel free to attend a session or get in touch with Kailey below. Even if you’re unsure about commitment at this stage, we encourage you to come along for a kickabout.
Further details around season costs, training, and team structure will be emailed to you once the team has been confirmed.
These sessions and team will be overseen by our Community Football Development Officer Kailey Short, contactable via CDO@ctfc.co.nz

Junior & youth
CTFC offers a range of fun to competitive community football within the Junior & Youth space for players aged 4 to 19.
Our club offers both mixed-sex and girls-only teams, giving young girls the opportunity to choose the environment that best suits their confidence, skill level, and personal preference.
Some girls thrive in mixed teams, enjoying the challenge and diversity of play, while others feel more confident and engaged in a girls-only setting, where they can develop skills alongside peers with shared experiences. By providing this choice, we remove barriers to participation, keep more players in the game, and create a positive, inclusive football experience where everyone can reach their full potential.
Girls-only teams are dual-banded (includes multiple age groups) and found in the following grades:
- 9th (year of birth 2017 & 2018)
- U11 (year of birth 2015 & 2016)
- U13 (year of birth 2013 & 2014)
- U15 (year of birth 2011 & 2012)
- U20's (year of birth 2006-2010)
- Women's Reserves
- Womens First Team
If you would like your player to enter a Girls-Only team, please select a Girls-Only membership when registering your player.
