First Kicks

We run 2 First Kicks Programmes, one at Centennial Park and one at Somerfield School.  The Somerfield School is just for players who attend Somerfield School.  The Centennial Park programme is for everyone else!

First Kicks: 4th and 5th Grade (Year of birth 2017 and 2018)

Emphasis is on fun, and falling in love with Football.

The First Kicks stage is a specially designed developmental programme about teaching a balance of Football Technique, General Movement, Football Co-ordination, mainly via Small Sided Games, allowing the game to be the teacher.

This program incorporates football skills with motor, physical, mental and social skills in a positive and non-competitive environment. It also builds self esteem, confidence, promotes sportsmanship and fair play while instilling a love and passion for the game of football.

First Kicks 6th Grade (Year of birth 2016)

In 2022 our 6th grade groups will still run the New Zealand Football designed First Kicks program but will be seperated into their age group to  ensure they are in an age appropriate environment and competing and having fun with players of a similar age and ability.

Centennial Park First Kicks and First Kicks 6th Grade starts Saturday 30th April at 9.30am and the season finishes on Saturday 3rd September.  There is no football on Saturday July 16th (middle weekend of the school holidays)!

All children are to meet at the flag which will be in the southwest area (Rose St and River corner) of Centennial Park. Our first kicks grade manager manages the sessions with the help of parents who attended the Introducation to Junior Coaching session and other volunteer parents. Please note that all parents must stay and be responsible for their child.

Somerfield School First Kicks starts Saturday 30th April 10.30am.

Somerfield School First kicks meet at Somerfield School.  More details will be in the school newsletter.
