First Kicks

We run 2 First Kicks Programmes, one at Centennial Park and one at Somerfield School.  The Somerfield School is just for players who attend Somerfield School.  The Centennial Park programme is for everyone else!

First Kicks: 4th and 5th Grade (Year of birth 2019 and 2020)

Emphasis is on fun, and falling in love with Football.

The First Kicks stage is a specially designed developmental programme about teaching a balance of Football Technique, General Movement, Football Co-ordination, mainly via Small Sided Games, allowing the game to be the teacher.

This program incorporates football skills with motor, physical, mental and social skills in a positive and non-competitive environment. It also builds self esteem, confidence, promotes sportsmanship and fair play while instilling a love and passion for the game of football.

First Kicks needs lots of involvement from parents and caregivers.  Each team needs at least 2 game day leaders so be prepared to help!  We offer free training and support to all our coaches and game day leaders.

First Kicks 6th Grade (Year of birth 2018)

In 2024 our 6th grade groups will still run the New Zealand Football designed First Kicks program but will be seperated into their age group to  ensure they are in an age appropriate environment and competing and having fun with players of a similar age and ability.

First Kicks needs lots of involvement from parents and caregivers.  Each team needs at least 2 game day leaders so be prepared to help!  We offer free training and support to all our coaches and game day leaders.
