Girls and Women

At CTFC, we offer a range of programmes to encourage more girls & women to play football, and stay in football. We want to be a part of the growth of the Girls and Women's game in New Zealand and believe as the biggest sports club in the South Island, our role in this is crucial. We care for the development of the female game at the club by providing coaches who are qualified to work with our girls on being the happiest and best footballers they can be. We invest in our girls by making a commitment to giving them equal opportunity and ensuring they feel safe, welcome and enjoy their time playing football. Our specialised girls programmes are listed below.

Women's First Team

Our highly successful Women's First Team competes in the South Island League currently and are looking to win back-to-back titles in this league. The team have progressed through Reta Fitzgerald Cup competition and also look to retain the Cup for the 2024 season. Our first team are a dedicated and motivated side who consistently demonstrate CTFC values on the pitch and off. Our Womens first team side are actively engaged with the young players in the CTFC community, supporting our Junior & First Kicks programme at Centennial Park each week and coaching our Junior and Girls Academy sides. The squad is mostly made up of Academy Graduates and players striving to progress into the Women's First Team. This is a great development pathway for our girls, particularly for those who graduate from the academy and have the reserve team as a stepping stone to their ultimate goal - representing CTFC at First Team level. If you have any enquiries regarding our Women's Reserve Team, please email our Women's Football Development Officer, Ella at wfdo@ctfc.nz.

CTFC Girls Academy Teams:

We have two girls academy teams at the club who follow the TDP structure we uphold as a club. Our Under 14 and Under 16 Girls Academy Teams train twice a week with C-Licence coaches and have access to other great facilities. This includes working with a strength and conditioning coach once a week, completing video analysis, and having referees provided for home games. You can find more information about the academy here.
